macOS 15 Sequoia Compatibility Guide
The newest versions of Cascable’s Mac apps — Cascable Studio and Cascable Pro Webcam — are fully compatible with macOS 15 Sequoia 15.1 or higher. However, macOS Sequoia did introduce new permissions for connecting to cameras. This article discusses the new permissions and what to do if they’re accidentally denied (or if the operating system never prompts you for them).
Important: macOS Sequoia 15.0 shipped with a bug that caused a number of cameras to not work via USB. This was fixed in the 15.1 update. Make sure you’re running macOS Sequoia 15.1 or higher to connect to cameras via USB.

macOS Sequoia’s New Camera Permissions
macOS 15 Sequoia introduced new permissions that must be allowed before an app can communicate with cameras.
When you first try to connect to a camera via a particular connection method, you’ll see a permission prompt asking to either access removable volumes (for USB connections) or the local network (for WiFi or Ethernet connections):
In both cases, you must click Allow in order to connect to your camera. If the permissions are denied, the app won’t be able to connect to any cameras.
I Can’t Connect And I Don’t See The Permission Prompt
With the permissions denied, apps will behave as if there’s no camera connected (i.e., an app can’t tell the difference between a permission being denied and there being no cameras available).
There are a few situations that can cause permissions to be denied:
-
The permission prompt was explicitly denied. Once denied, macOS won’t ask again.
-
The permission prompt was allowed, but the permission was then taken away for whatever reason.
-
You upgraded to macOS Sequoia from an older macOS version. The permission prompts should be shown by macOS Sequoia after the upgrade, but we’ve had a number of reports of the permissions being automatically denied and the prompts not being shown.
No matter the reason, you can re-enable the permissions at any time. To do so:
For USB connections, open the System Settings app then navigate to Privacy & Security → Files & Folders, then find Cascable or Cascable Pro Webcam in the list. Click the little triangle next to the app’s name, and make sure Removable Volumes is enabled. Note that you may need to restart the app for the change to take effect.
For WiFi or Ethernet connections, open the System Settings app then navigate to Privacy & Security → Local Network, then find Cascable or Cascable Pro Webcam in the list and make sure the switch is enabled. Note that you may need to restart the app for the change to take effect.
Important: macOS won’t show an app in System Settings until it’s actually requested a particular permission. For USB cameras, this won’t happen until you physically connect the camera with a USB cable then try to connect to it in the Cascable app. Trying to “pre-grant” the permission without a camera connected won’t work. If you still don’t see the app in System Settings, reboot your computer and try to trigger the prompt again.
